Shopping is meant to be a simple task, yet, at times, can be very time-consuming. It doesn’t take much effort to develop small habits that will prove very useful when going shopping whether it be in-store shopping or online shopping.
Create a shopping list
You can skip aimlessly shopping without choosing items if you take five seconds to jot down a list, no matter how rough it is. It doesn’t have to be a detailed list, it just has to be something. This will also minimize impulse shopping as you won’t have the opportunity to stop at another store when you come up with three additional things to purchase.
Research sizes prior to purchasing
This is most likely to apply to online shopping since in-store clothing sizes are usually a little more standardized. A quick trip to a size guide will save you a future hassle of returning the item. A lot of online shoppers don’t put a lot of effort in to guess what size they are, and that results in wasted time on their part.
Purchase items when you have time to spare
When you are pressed for time, you tend to buy what is most convenient, rather than what you desire. This includes all shopping, not just in-store shopping. Frequent online shopping is done without a lot of thought because time is being wasted.
Do not wait to understand the returns policy after you purchase. Read it first.
Expecting returns to be simple creates a lot of problems for the shopper. Stores differ in what is required for a return, for instance, how long the customer has to return the item, and whether customers pay to ship the item back. It is always better to know this information in advance.
Stop wasting time.
This is not really about saving time but even more important, not wasting money. Take a quick inventory of what you already own. If you do not, you run the risk of having already previously owned the same item. You own things you do not really need.
None of this needs to be complicated. You do not have to do anything overly special to accomplish this. Most of the time it is about being intentional and not buying on impulse. You do not have to do anything formal to accomplish this.
